Uber in Talks with Dubai RTA for Budget Taxi!
Uber Technologies, the ride-hailing app seems to be have held further talks in Dubai about it offering a new taxi service involving budget taxi in the Dubai region.
In support of the Dubai Vision 2021, the heads from Uber(MENA and Europe) as well as the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) sat for a discussion on “boosting cooperation” apart from the initial results regarding a study about new budget mobility products.
Following the trial of the services of Uber X earlier this year, the talks aim to provide passengers with affordable travel options in Dubai.
Back in April, it was reported that the pricing structure of the Uber X is set to include a base fare of 5 AED, along with an additional cost of 1.37 AED per km apart from 0.4 AED per minute.
Till now, Careem and Uber were restricted from offering cheap services in Dubai as a part of regulations that require the fare to be higher up to 30 percent as compared to the local RTA taxis.
The discussions even covered the means for improving the future of transport services for serving clients in the emirate.
Back in January, Dubai’s RTA signed an agreement with the US-based Uber for exploring the development in a more affordable limousine and taxi services in Dubai.
