Mysterious Audi R8 Sports Car Likely Hiding a Twin Turbo V6
Last week, spy photographers had photographed a mysterious sports car, the Audi R8. The car had two massive exhaust outlets coming out the back end as well as an enlarged front grille. The car was being presumed as being the alternative V10 powerhouse and receiving the GT Badge, although, this doesn’t seem likely now.
Although nothing is extremely clear, some sources have indicated that the Audi R8 Sports Car will be an entry-level version. The car will have a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine beneath its elegant body that’s borrowed from RS4 Avant and the Audi RS5.
In both these models, the V6 engine makes around 444 horsepower apart from 600 Nm torque.
It has also been suggested that Audi won’t be offering only one type of power output and will rather provide multiple offerings of horsepower for luring in customers.
When can the all-new Audi R8 be expected to come out?
If there are multiple powertrains and there will be a bi-turbo V6 engine that’s mounted behind the seats, you can expect the R8 lineup to be expanded next year as this model is likely to slot underneath the V10 model and the recent rear-wheel drive variant.
The Audi R8 boasts of a V10 5.2-litre petrol engine producing 533 horsepower with all-wheel drive due to the Quattro system. The car has a seven-speed S Tronic gearbox, with the ability to go from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds with a max speed of 320 km/h.
