Uber Partners with RTA and Tesla to Provide Tesla Cars as Taxis
The US-based ride-hailing company Uber has teamed up with Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority for offering the Tesla cars as Taxis; a decision that’s a part of the partnership between Dubai RTA and Tesla for adding to the environment-friendly fleet of the Emirate. The cars will be available for hire using the Uber app.
From October 10 onwards, a person can select the UberOne option on the Uber app and then have the option of choosing between from Model X as the SUV or the Model S as the Sedan. The expected price for the model will be a base fare of 10 AED and then 1.9 AED per km, just like the UberBlack.
Just as Tesla is working towards moving away from the initial appeal of being a premium electric car niche player to being a prominent name in the taxi-service, the Airport authority of Dubai is also planning to offer the taxi services in form of electric cars for the passengers that head to check-in the flights in the future.
